The bottom line is that you wont want all your card draw in only one of the colors in a typical multicolor EDH deck, so finding a few red draw staples helps make your decks more consistent
This deck has a bunch of cards that either produce tokens or creatures to recur so you can repeatedly sacrifice them to ping your opponents to death
Not background necessarily, but some other line of text that says something along the lines of Whenever you sacrifice a Treasure token, give a creature a +1/+1 counter and trample until end of turn. That would make it a lot more interesting and powerful, but I suppose not every card needs to be great
